HIT THE LIGHTS 2009.02.06
Dream of competing in Winter X-Games? How about performing at the base of Snowmass during X-Games? That's what Hit The Lights got the chance to do last month! HTL guitarist Omar Zehery tells uTURF about jamming with Tara Dakides and more!

What was it like playing at X-Games?
Playing the X-Games was a surreal experience for us because we all grew up watching it over the years. Also, chances are slim that we'll ever play to the back drop of a mountain in twenty-five degree weather during a snow storm.

Who's the coolest person you met there?
While we were in Aspen, we were lucky enough to attend a jam sesh (as we call it in the biz) with Tara Dakides. We played one of our songs and then played a couple of her favorite songs with her singing which was a blast. We covered Tom Petty and Patsy Cline with one of snowboarding's best competitors. Hopefully we didn't creep her out too bad, but if polygamy was legal she would have left with five husbands.

What's your favorite winter X-Games event?
Watching Levi LaVallee do a double backflip in competition in the new Snowmobile Speed & Style event was a pretty epic moment in extreme sports history. Sure, he might have not stuck the landing, but you get your sorry butt on one of them and try it. Seriously, pansy...

Who's your favorite winter X-Games athlete?
Tara Dakides ftmexgwoat (forthemostextremexgameswinofalltime)

Did you get to snowboard when you were there?
Our drummer Nate had the chance to do the skiboarding.

If you could compete in any winter X-Games event, which would it be?
If the job of driving the zamboni machine (if they even use one during the Winter X-games) would be taken then we would probably hit that SuperPipe. We'd hit that SuperPipe reeeeal hard.
